Hotel Gulliver was designed for an exhibition with 26 tents and tent-like objects, travelling around Holland, Belgium and Germany during the summer of 1997. One of the main sponsors of the so-called "Tentententoonstelling" was an outdoor sports chain store, that used the exhibition to highlight its 20th anniversary. All tents were featured in the catalogue as if they were part of the stores regular line of products. Hotel Gulliver even made it to the cover.

Hotel Gulliver on location in Kassel during the Documenta X

We wrote the following product information for the catalogue: "The Hotel Gulliver is a simple, single-roof bungalow tent with a fixed, lightweight ground sheet and is made of waterproof cotton and impregnated textile. With a comfortable standing height of 220 cm, 88 curtained windows plus a water-resistant mat of 150x230 in front of the entrance, the Hotel Gulliver offers a luxurious stay for two adults (with child)."

Hotel Gulliver was designed as a functional tent and has sheltered many guests during its travels. Afterwards, we have continued using the tent for our own camping trips. After so many years, a case of major storm damage and many sunny hours, it is quite bleached and not as pretty when brand new, but still fully waterproof and functional. Perhaps the only things it lacks is room service and a mini-bar.
